Handing over your passwords headache to Lastpass

With the advancement of the Internet, emergence of numerous social networks and email services, the number of passwords that we have to remember have reached the impossible state. If one can set complex passwords for all his accounts and remember them all, the guy should be a genius.

For other normal people like me, there is the help of password management utilities like LastPass, Dashlane, RoboForm Everywhere, Intuitive Password, Keeper, Norton Identity Safe, Password Box, and Sticky Password.Among them, my favorite one has always been LastPass. And in this article, I'm going to show you how to make the best use of LastPass.

Steps

1. Go to https://lastpass.com and click on Download Free to get started

2. Select the installer for your browser or you can download Universal Windows Installer

3. Click Install LastPass

4. Click Create a New Account

5. Enter you email address, a strong Master password, Master Password reminder, tick the I agree box and click Create Account

6. Click Enable to activate the LastPass add-on for Internet Explorer (this might vary depending on your browser)

It is almost done and you will be presented with the LassPass Vault

7. Now go to one of your online accounts and login as you normaly do

8. You will see a prompt asking you if you want to save the site or not. Click Save Site

9. You can give a name for the entry and select a folder in your vault. Once you select them, click Save Site

Now you have saved that credentials to your LastPass vault, next time you visit that site, you will see that LastPass have entered your credentials for you. How cool is that :)

Tips

1. Don't forget your Master Password for LastPass.
2. Unless you are absolutely certain that no one else will misuse your PC, don't tick the box "Remember Password".

3. LastPass supports multi-factor authentication. It is highly advisable that you       enable that feature (Don't worry.. will cover that in a different post)
4. LastPass is more than just a password manager. There are plenty of other         features as well. Will bring those to you in the future.
5. Lastpass has built in password generator. Now that you don't have to                remember your passwords, try this feature to generate secure passwords for      your accounts.
